Forschungsgebiete:

  • Trichoderma-plant-pathogen interactions
  • Characterization of the modes of action and the activity spectrum of selected BCAs
  • Detection, isolation and structure elucidation of the antifungal bioactive natural molecules
  • Development of biological preparations for the biocontrol of plant pathogens
  • Microbial detoxification of Fusarium mycotoxins
  • Studies on the ability of selected BCAs and/or their secondary metabolites to induce defense reactions in the plants (e.g. priming and phytoalexin formation) using plant cell cultures.

Main research interests

My group is broadly interested in biocontrol of plant pathogens with particular emphasis on the development of applied approaches based on active biocontrol agents (BCAs, mainly Trichoderma spp.) and their antifungal secondary metabolites. The targeted plant pathogens include Phytophthora infestans, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Phakopsora pachyrhizi, Fusarium spp. and Diaporthe spp. Our previous and future research agendas focus almost on the following aspects:

  • Trichoderma–plant–pathogen interactions
  • Characterization of the modes of action and the activity spectrum of selected BCAs
  • Detection, isolation and structure elucidation of the antifungal bioactive natural molecules
  • Development of biological preparations for the biocontrol of plant pathogens
  • Microbial detoxification of Fusarium mycotoxins
  • Studies on the ability of selected BCAs and/or their secondary metabolites to induce defense reactions in the plants (e.g. priming and phytoalexin formation) using plant cell cultures.
